It is imperative that I share these press release articles from the associations that I am affiliated with ANZCA FPM, NSANZ and the ASA in response to the recent ABC 4 Corners Programme which aired Monday 8th April 2024. The programme was intended to shock and garner attention. This is not an example of responsible reporting. As with the negative, good is often on the flip side - this has generated much important discussion within both specialties, motivating us not to rest on our laurels. I stand behind the fidelity of what we do as Specialist Pain Medicine Physicians. As a Specialist Anaesthetist, rest assured that our care of the patient does not begin at the start of surgical incision, nor does it end when the drapes are taken down.
