Dr Gloria Seah

MBBS BMedSci MMed(Periop) FANZCA FFPMANZCA

Gloria completed her undergraduate medical degree at the University of Melbourne. She spent her junior doctor years at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, where she later continued on into specialty training in Anaesthesia. She has published research and book chapters with experts in the field of Regional Anaesthesia, which is considered a specialty skill-set in Anaesthesia.

She obtained her Fellowship in Anaesthesia and went on to complete a second Fellowship in Pain Management. She is a member of the International Pain & Spine Intervention Society and the Neuromodulation Society of Australia and New Zealand.

Melbourne Pain & Anaesthesia was founded as a central hub for the amalgamation of both areas of service - clinical care as a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician and as a Specialist Anaesthetist.

Gloria holds public appointments at Eastern Health and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital as a visiting specialist. As a pain specialist in the public hospital system, she provides medical input and works closely with allied health professionals in providing outpatient pain management. She has also served on opioid stewardship and research committees, improving pain care and outcomes in tertiary referral hospitals and acting in an advisory role to the anaesthesia departments she is a part of, caring for complex pain patients during the perioperative period.

As a Specialist Anaesthetist, she has an active private practice in metropolitan Melbourne, affiliated with St Vincent's Private Hospitals, Cabrini Health and The Epworth, partnering with world class surgeons in their field. Her sub-specialties include Regional Anaesthesia, Ophthalmic Anaesthesia and Obstetric Anaesthesia.

Gloria’s passion lies in Pain Medicine. Her approach is personable, heart-felt care while offering patients targeted solutions to get them closer to the best possible version of themselves.

As a dual-Fellow of Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia, her expertise in Regional Anaesthesia and Interventional Pain Management allows her to deliver results, while understanding the needs of the whole patient, offering a continuum of care beyond the pain intervention itself.
